Hi, I’m Sophia

How I work

I believe the best companies nurture team creativity through planning and process. I aim to bring pragmatism and empathy to how founding technology teams plan and organize their work. I look for solutions that feel personal to the individual strengths of teams and the present needs of their businesses.

My approach:

  • Build relationships with members of the team to understand how they work and communicate best.

  • Bring structures and frameworks to help them break down overwhelming problem areas.

  • Shepherd action plans to make meaningful progress in those problem areas. This means helping define the work that needs to be done, who will be doing it, and how each piece will be supported by the rest of the team.

  • Help to pivot swiftly if plans or communication practices need adjustment, without destabilizing the company.

I both embed within companies and coach others in these areas, to build their confidence in their approach to their work.

Experience

I’ve spent over a decade collaborating with some of the world’s top product founders and technology teams. I pride myself on being a versatile leader and strategist, and I bring expertise across product, operations, communications, and strategy to provide actionable advice that transforms how teams build and create real impact.

At Snap, I oversaw international efforts in emerging markets. I managed a $1 million research budget, leading in-market trips to four countries. I built out playbooks with recommendations for marketing, engineering, product, partnerships, and sales which served as guideposts for the executive team for several years.

After that, I led compliance, legal, product, and engineering teams at Compass to simplify a set of features and feature teams into a single user experience that supported agents with their deal flow - at the time we were managing $98 million in transaction volume.

At Atlassian, I worked on Trello, which had been recently acquired and was still close to its start-up roots. Since 2012, Trello has been a distributed company at the forefront of remote work. I led multiple product teams to align across time zones to build out updated views. I used the company’s remote-first ethos as a touchstone for the product strategy and our ways of building.

I have since worked with a number of founding teams to build out their companies’ approach to collaboration, strategy, and product - so their collaboration can yield success against company goals and deliver the best possible experience for their users.
